Heart-Shaped Eggs and Toast

Well, Valentine's Day falls on a Thursday this year, but I can't think of a better way to send my loved ones off to work or school then with these fast and easy heart-shaped eggs and toast! And I don't know about you, but my mornings are pretty hectic and jam-packed, which doesn't leave me much time for breakfast.

So I know you may be thinking, "Okay, this is cheesy and so simple." But really, I'm a busy mom and wife who likes cheesy.

And simple.

Just because it's a holiday doesn't mean I have to go over-the-top. Making simple treats like this for my family is what it's all about.  And any day is an excuse to make them, not just on Valentine's.

It doesn't have to be dramatic or fancy, as long as it comes from the heart. After all, that's what matters most!

Food for My Soul: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13

Heart-Shaped Eggs and Toast for Two
Ingredients:
2 slices bread (I prefer wheat)
2 eggs
1/2 tsp butter, plus more as needed
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
1. Using a 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, remove the center of the bread, and toast the heart cutout only. Set aside.
2. Melt butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place bread in skillet, and cook until underside is lightly browned, then flip bread. Crack the egg into the center of the bread.  Season with salt and pepper.
3. Cover skillet, and cook until egg is set, about 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat with remaining bread and egg. Serve with toasted heart-shaped bread for dipping into yolk.

    1. Hi Anonymous, you can try buttering each side of the toast, cooking on low heat one side, then flipping the toast on the other side, and immediately cracking the egg in the heart cut-out once you flip the toast over. Still continue cooking on low heat for about 2 minutes, while covering the skillet with a lid. If you want, you can turn off the heat after 2 minutes and continue leaving the toast/egg in the skillet with the lid on for another minute or so until the egg is set. Hope this helps:)
